Prince Abdullah bin Faisal, director of the international affairs and relief department at the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA), inaugurated the first phase of King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Village in Sudan.
The inauguration was attended by Saudi Ambassador in Khartoum Ali Hussein Jafar, and specialists in humanitarian and relief work from the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and international organizations.
The village is in Umm Al-Qura province in Al-Jazira state. The first phase of the project includes 120 housing units for 240 families with service facilities, two schools for boys and girls, a mosque and a health center.
The second phase includes 230 units for 460 families, with a total value of 13 million Sudanese pounds ($1.95 million) when completed.
Prince Abdullah said the village will provide stability for residents, while Jafar commended the SRCA’s humanitarian efforts.
The secretary-general of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization, Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, lauded the project.
The SRCA is implementing various projects this year in several Sudanese states, including 10 health centers, nine water stations, and eye correction for more than 100 visually impaired people.
In addition to programs for sanitation, development and education, the Saudi Health Ministry has provided services including the operation of 21 health centers and 21 water stations.
