Kremlin Spokesman  Dmitry Peskov announced that Russian president Vladimir Putin discussed with his counterparts at the Collective Security Treaty Organization the situation in Syria.

Sputnik News Agency quoted Peskov as saying Thursday that Putin briefed his counterparts at the organization on the dialogue which began in the framework of Astana formula and the results of the quartet summit which was held in Istanbul on October 27th and gathered the leaders of Russia, Germany, France and Turkey.

The states of the Collective Security Treaty expressed their support to the efforts of Russia and Kazakhstan to reach a settlement to the crisis in Syria.

A statement issued by representatives of the participating countries at the summit which was held today in Astana said “We support Russia’s efforts to reach a permanent settlement to the crisis in Syria.”

Last year, the Organization affirmed during a similar meeting support to Syria sovereignty and territorial integrity.
