Iraqi air forces launched raids against the strongholds of ISIS extremist group in the framework of the current operations to liberate the Iraqi city from the extremists, saying that they managed to kill three leaders of the extremist group. The Popular Mobilization Forces revealed that Telaffar is considered one of the major strongholds of the extremist group, saying that the battle to liberate the district is not easy.
On its hand, International Coalition, led by the U.S, revealed that it will conduct investigations over the claims of bombarding residential areas on March 17, leading to the killing of dozens of civilians. He signaled that such investigation will take a long time during the coming period.
According to a statement issued by Irwars Organization, over thousand civilians have been killed during only one month in the framework of the raids launched by the International Coalition on both Syria and Iraq. The Britain-based organization called U.S President Donald Trump for reviewing the rules of engagement in the framework of his plan to defeat the extremist group.
The Iraqi governmental troops said that the International Coalition’s fighter jets were covering the advance of the Iraqi troops, saying that the residential buildings have been destroyed due to the targeting of a car bomb near them. They denied what was published over the direct bombardment of the housing building.
The United Nations revealed that about 600,000 people remain in the areas of west Mosul held by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), including 400,000 who are "trapped" in the Old City under siege-like conditions, the United Nations said yesterday.
"They are desperate for food. They are panicked," Mr Bruno Geddo, who represents the UN refugee agency in Iraq, told reporters in Geneva by phone from a transit center for displaced people near Mosul.
He said people arriving at the Hammam al-Alil transit centre about 20km south of Iraq's second- largest city described the desperate situation they left behind.
On the military side, Spokesperson of Popular Mobilization Forces Ahmed Al Assadi revealed that Telaffar is considered one of the major strongholds of the extremist group, warning that ISIS will not turn the page of Iraq after the liberation of the Iraqi city. He stressed the need for liberating other areas, including Howeija and Qaem from the grip of ISIS. He demanded the Iraqi government to protect the civilians
In the same context, Iraqi Powers Coalition demanded Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider Abadi to change the rules of engagement during the current operations witnessed in Mousl to ensure the protection of the civilians’ lives and to keep the victories achieved by the military forces.
