President Bashir receives AU Commissioner for Peace and Security, Chergui

President Omar Bashir on Sunday received Ambassador Smail Chergui, African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, and discussed with him strengthening of cooperation and coordination on matter related to the Horn of Africa region.
The two sides have reviewed means of strengthening cooperation among the countries of the region for facing the security, economic and political challenges as well as boosting peace and stability in the region
The commissioner, ambassador Chergui, said he took the opportunity to congratulate the President of the Republic and the Sudanese people on the occasion of the revocation of the sanctions and expressed his hope that the name of the country would be removed from the list Washington considered sponsor of terrorism
He said he meeting with the president also touched on the situation in Somalia and in the red sea area in general.
