The Assistant Foreign Minister and Head of the Delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the 36th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri, stressed that the remarkable developments and achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of human rights were due to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the efforts of the honorable government.

This came during a meeting with the Chairperson of the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID), Ms Houria Es-Slami at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, in which the Assistant Foreign Minister stressed the Kingdom’s keenness on communicating and cooperating with all United Nations mechanisms as well as supporting the work of the Working Group through responding to all appeals, queries and reports regarding its work.

He also highlighted the existence of legal and judicial guarantees and procedures in the Kingdom due to its national preventive mechanisms that aim at ensuring the prevention of enforced disappearances in Bahrain.

The Assistant Foreign Minister also met the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Estonia to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Andre Pung, and praised the growing relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Estonia and the developments of these relations in various fields. He also expressed hope to build on the bilateral cooperation and coordination to achieve the common interests of the two friendly countries.

The 36th session of the Human Rights Council, under the 6th article, discusses in its agenda adopting the Universal Periodic Review reports of a number of countries including the Kingdom of Bahrain.
