Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit
Cairo - Arab Today

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit received on Monday Nickolay Mladenov, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process.

A statement issued by the Pan-Arab organization said the UN envoy posted Abul Gheit on the developments in the Palestinian territories and the chances of resuming peace talks.
The statement pointed out that settlements will remain illegal in line with international law and international charters.

Abul Gheit, for his part, called for confronting Israeli attempts to legalize the Jewish settlements in the occupied territories.

Reports days ago said that Israel's Knesset initially voted in favor of a revised bill intended to legalize more than 4,000 unauthorized settlement homes situated in the West Bank.
