Sudanese Culture Minister Sayyed Haroun on Tuesday opened the Egyptian Book Fair in Khartoum in the presence of Egyptian Charge D'Affairs Ahmed Abu Alaa and a number of personalities working in the cultural field.

In statements to MENA in Khartoum, the Sudanese minister said the exhibition, that runs for two weeks, will crystallize the deeply-rooted relations between the two peoples who have been historically bound by the River Nile.

He said the exhibition will help give a strong impetus to interaction between the two peoples, voicing hope over holding more activities to push their relations.

The minister pointed out that this year would witness a number of cultural activities between the two countries. An Egyptian cultural delegation will soon visit Sudan to take part in Sinar Project that will choose the Sudanese Sinar state as a capital of the Islamic culture for 2017.

He also cited the Egyptian participation in Khartoum International Book Fair held in October.

The Egyptian exhibition includes 12 pavilions showcasing as many as 25,000 books in the various fields of knowledge.
