Tunis - KUNA
Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) Dr. Abdullah Mhareb called Tuesday for paying further attention to science and scientific research in the Arab countries. The Arab world does not have the proper desire to promote scientific research and development of relevant initiatives, Mhareb said in a statement on the occasion of the Arab Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development, due on Friday. He regretted that Arab countries were allocating small budgets for the scientific research, a hurdle before innovation among youth. Mhareb called on media to highlight the importance of scientific research, and urged scientific and research institute to encourage scientific and industrial projects contributing to sustainable development. He said the three-day forum aimed at creating the suitable atmosphere for scientific research projects in universities and Arab research centers.
