Houston - XINHUA

A total of 17 students were injured and hospitalized Thursday afternoon when a pickup truck crashed into a school bus in a hit-and-run in the U.S. city of New Orleans, local media reported. The accident happened about 4:30 p.m.(21:30 GMT) near a toll plaza in New Orleans. The pick-up truck towing a boat trailer clipped the front end of the school bus in the feeder lane, said Melissa Matey, spokeswoman for the State Police. The students on the school bus are from a local high school. Local media reported that they got minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation while authorities are searching for the pick-up truck driver who fled the scene. Further details were not released.
