China has agreed on building the first nuclear power plant in Sudan.

In press statements on Tuesday, Sudanese Finance and Economic Planning Minister Badr-Eddin Mahmoud said that the Sudanese and Chinese governments signed a framework agreement in the field of nuclear energy.

Under the deal that was signed at the end of Sudanese-Chinese energy committee meetings, China will construct the first nuclear power plant in the east African country, he added.

For his part, Sudanese Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity Mutaz Musa said that Sudan and China are implementing 155 electricity projects at a cost of 10 billion dollars.
