Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry
Cairo - Egypt Today

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted on Sunday said the Skhirat agreement is pivotal as a basis for comprehensive political settlement in Libya.
During a meeting with UN Libya envoy Ghassan Salamé in Cairo, Shoukry underlined the importance of making necessary amendments to the accord to secure a clear-cut vision on the work of the national institutions until elections are held.
The meeting tackled efforts to settle the Libyan crisis.
Shoukry also highlighted the importance of the UN role in following up the implementation of the Skhirat agreement, hoping that more consultation and coordination will be made between Cairo and the UN in this regard.
The top diplomat posted the UN envoy on Egypt's views for the developments of the Libyan crisis at the political and security levels. He also reviewed challenges Cairo faces due the continuous instability in the neighboring Arab country, said the foreign ministry's spokesman Ahmed Abu-Zeid.
Shoukry was informed by the UN envoy on the outcome of contacts and consultations he made with Libyan leaders and a trip he had to some Libyan cities.
The envoy's recent talks with regional and international parties on the crisis were also discussed during the meeting, said the spokesman.
Shoukry briefed Salame on Egypt's efforts to boost accord and national reconciliation in Libya including his recent talks with the head of the presidential council Faiz Sarraj and military commander Khalifa Haftar in Paris, added the spokesman.
He pointed also to his talks with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on the Libyan crisis, said the spokesman.
