Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa
New York - Egypt Today

Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa has lauded Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s role to end inter-Palestinian division and reach solutions to the internal conflict.

Egypt’s recent efforts to end differences between the Palestinian rivals underlines its pioneering and historic role for the Arab nation, he told the UN General Assembly in New York.

Egypt’s role confirms its pivotal position in supporting the Arab causes, he said, adding that Egypt is the cornerstone of security and stability in the region.

He asserted that the Palestinian cause is not religious, but it is a political one.

He called for ending the occupation and violence against the Palestinians and stopping settlement activities and violations against the holy places.

The top Bahraini diplomat called for a unified international stance to counter terrorism and deter individuals and entities that finance terrorism

Qatar has financed and supported terrorism which reached Bahrain, he said, asserting that Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain have taken stance against Qatar to maintain the security and stability of the region and world.

He also slammed Iran for attempting to spread chaos and instability in the region and the world.

The Iranian regime supports a number of terrorist organizations, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Houthi militias in Yemen.

Bahrain backs the legitimate government in Yemen through its participation in the Arab coalition, he said.

He reaffirmed his country’s support for a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
