Al Azhar to help France correct mistaken stereotypes about Islam

Al Azhar will help Paris overcome waves of mistaken stereotypes fanned about Islam after terror acts that hit France and Belgium, Grand Imam Ahmed Al Tayyeb said on Tuesday following a meeting with French President Francois Hollande.
The meeting was attended by French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve.
Al Azhar, the prestigious Sunni Muslim center of learning, supports peacebuilding efforts and condemns terrorism, el Tayyeb said.
