Cairo - Egypt Today

Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestinian and Arab Occupied Territories Sector of the League of Arab States Abu Ali said on Thursday that the Palestinian issue will always be the core of determining the destiny of the whole region.

Abu Ali told journalists that the Palestinian issue is considered to be the key factor for achieving security and stability along with uprooting terrorism.

He added that he Palestinian citizens should get their country’s independence with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.

Abu Ali warned that Israel's government under Benjamin Netanyahu has chosen escalation of its repressive measures and implementation of Judaization plans in Al Quds city while obstructing peace efforts.

Israel is dragging us into religious war in the region through its measures and occupational plans that are targeting Al Quds and Al Aqsa Mosque in defiance of the international laws and conventions, Abu Ali added.

He denounced the suggestion presented by Israeli far-right parties and members of the Israeli Knesset about including five large settlement to Al Quds which represents an aggression on the rights of the Palestinians and violates international legitimacy.

He pointed out that council of Arab League held at the level foreign ministers last Thursday stressed the need to end all Israeli measures in Al Aqsa Mosque and decided to be in permanent session to follow up serious developments.
