The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), in line with its strategic objectives and aim to continuously cooperate with all strategic partners, has conducted a series of Civil Aviation Search and Rescue (SAR) workshops at the GCAA Regional Office in Dubai.
The objective of the workshops was to test-drive the current communication strategies in case of an aviation incident through a communication exercise between Dubai Airport and Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre in Abu Dhabi.
The GCAA's Search and Rescue Communication exercise aims to test the communication standards and formalise the exchange of necessary information and details between involved parties.
Over 30 participants from search and rescue service providers in the U.A.E. participated in the drill. SAR providers in the U.A.E. includes U.A.E. Armed Forces, Abu Dhabi Police, Dubai Police and Abu Dhabi Aviation.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, stressed the importance of such workshops and stated, "The success of Civil Aviation Search and Rescue in the U.A.E. can only be achieved through collaborative efforts and close cooperation among all stakeholders."
