Bangkok - XINHUA
Thailand's Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) in January fell to the lowest level in 26
months amid the ongoing political unrest in the country.
The latest figures by the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce on Thursday showed that CCI in January 2014 slipped from 73.4 in December 2013 to 71.5.
Consumer confidence is an indicator designed to measure the degree of optimism that consumers feel about the overall state of the economy and their personal financial situation.
Saowanee Thairungroj, rector of the university, said all the consumer confidence indices have been falling for 10 consecutive months, reflecting consumers' eroding confidence in the country's economy, reported the Bangkok Post on Thursday.
