Construction and manufacturing enterprises accounted for around 16 percent of the total economic enterprises in Albania, providing employment for 41 percent of the total number of employees, a survey showed on Friday.
The enterprises with 20 and more employed dominate the country's economy, providing employment for 46 percent of total employed and realizing around 67 percent of investments, according to the findings of the structural survey of economic enterprises 2012 released by the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).
The industry comprises over 9,332 enterprises with around 89,000 employees, whereas construction industry comprises some 3,285 firms with more than 33,000 employees. Active enterprises in industry sector represent 73.9 percent of the total number of enterprises in this group.
Turnover of industrial sector increased 13.1 percent compared with previous year.
A different situation is in construction sector, where turnover decreased 4.2 percent compared with 2011. In industry sector the number of employed increased 1.8 percent compared with 2011, while in construction sector decreased by 3.9 percent.
