The proposed high-speed rail link between Singapore and Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur will be finalized next year, Prime Minister Najib Razak said Thursday. "We will be able to finalize the proposed Singapore-KL high- speed rail project next year," he said in his tweet. The proposed 12 billion U.S. dollar and 330 kilometer project was announced by the prime minister and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong in February. Najib said the project, when completed in 2020, would shorten traveling time between the two cities to just 90 minutes. It was reported on Sept. 18 that although details of the project had not been revealed, Malaysia's Land Public Transport Commission had said that Malaysia would begin negotiations with Singapore in the coming weeks on the tender process in the second half of next year.
