Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Friday urged acceleration in the construction of a Belarusian-Chinese industrial park that he said would give an impetus to economic development. The president said he wanted a clear-cut action plan to accelerate its construction as the large-scale project is of special importance. "It is a momentous example of Belarus-China strategic cooperation and an important incentive for the development of the economy," he said at the state council. "The amount of work and capital investments are huge. In essence, a new city will be created near Minsk, an independent territorial and economic unit will be created. It will be home to innovative, export-oriented enterprises and will offer comfortable living standards, too," he said. Chinese engineering company CAMCE told Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Tozik on Friday that the construction of the first buildings in the industrial park is expected to start in May- June 2014, the press service of the Belarus government said. The Belarusian-Chinese industrial park, to be located in Smolevichi District, Minsk region, is expected to produce electronics, biomedicine, chemistry and engineering.
