Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Atef Tarawneh, on Monday discussed with the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Gao Yusheng bilateral ties as well as issues of common interest.During the meeting, Tarawneh stressed the need to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries in the economic, trade, cultural fields for the benefit of the peoples of Jordan and China.The speaker praised China’s role in supporting Arab issues as it is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, pointing out that Chinese investments in the Kingdom are not large when compared to other countries.“Jordan hopes to increase Chinese investments in various domains, especially in the energy sector, which will help in providing job opportunities for Jordanians and slash the Kingdom’s oil bill,” Tarawneh said.He also briefed the ambassador on Jordan’s reform process led by His Majesty King Abdullah II.The Chinese ambassador praised Jordan’s role in the region as well as the Kingdom’s democratic process that is a model for others in the region.
