The Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency assistance of approximately 16 million US dollars for Egypt, according to its FY 2013 supplementary budget approved by the Diet on February 6, 2014.The assistance will be used for various projects implemented in Egypt by UN agencies in order to address urgent needs and challenges facing Egypt, said a statement on the website of the Japanese embassy in Cairo.The projects aim at supporting Egypt in its economic and social development and democratic transition and providing humanitarian assistance for Syrian refugees in Egypt, it added.
