The industrial cement group of Algeria (GICA) will achieve ten projects across the country to increase the production of from currently 11.5 million tonnes to 26 million in 2017, its President Bachir Yahia announced Monday in Mascara (361km west of Algiers).During a workshop on techniques of rubble use in construction, public works and hydraulics (BTPH), the same official said that his group adopted an ambitious strategy to develop the cement industry in Algeria and increase the performance in the cement and concrete producing companies " to meet increased domestic demand and export it."The group launched the procedures for the building of four cement plants in the provinces of Bechar, Tamanrasset, Relizane and Oum El Bouaghi. The former produce 2 million cement tones per year cement, those located in Ain Salah (Tamanrasset) and Bechar respectively 500,000 and one million tonnes per year, he added.The project of cement plant in Relizane, under preparation is looking for a partner to start works, said Yahia.New production lines are scheduled in six cement plants, including in the plants of Beni Saf (Ain Témouchent), Zahana (Mascara), Meftah (Blida), Chlef and Ain Kebira (Setif). The production capacity of these plants is expected to be boosted, through improving the product quality and its adaptation to the international standards.The "GICA" group plans an increase of rubble production in quarries it runs, and the increase in production of 4.4 million t / year currently to 7,000,000 t / year next year. It also intends to develop the concrete industry through the 16 production plants with a capacity of 4,000,000 cubic meters/ year currently , with the possibility of establishing other plants in the provinces which have appropriate land bases.
