U.S. stocks closed higher Tuesday, as the Dow Jones industrial average rallied to hit an all-time high.
The dollar fell against the euro, the pound, and the yen. Light sweet crude oil for April delivery rose 70 cents to $90.82 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures gained $2.50 to $1,574.90 an ounce.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 125.95, or 0.89 percent, to 14,253.77. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved up 14.59, or 0.96 percent, to 1,539.79. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index gained 42.10, or 1.32 percent, to 3,224.13
