Nikkei surged 2.47 percent Thursday, back over the 14,000 line after upbeat Chinese economic data and U. S. Federal Reserve\'s decision to keep current quantitative easing intact.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average increased 337.45 points, from Wednesday at 14,005.77.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 31.69 points, or 2.80 percent, at 1, 163.39.
The turnover was 2210.6 billion yen (about 22.46 million U.S. dollars).
