Nikkei opened 0.7 percent lower on Wednesday morning. At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 95.08 points from Tuesday at 13,438.68. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 11.40 points, or 1.01 percent, at 1, 114.07.
