Tokyo stocks were almost flat early Monday morning amid a dearth of compelling trading cues. At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 0.21 percent, from Friday at 13,650.32. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 0.91 point, or 0.08 percent, at 1, 141.74.
