Nikkei ended 1.74 percent lower Thursday. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average finished down 230.64 points from Wednesday at 13,014.58. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 14.76 points, or 1. 33 percent, to 1,091.81. Decliners included real estate, mining and consumer finance firms, while gainers included fishery and forestry, airlines and land transporters. The turnover was about 2,296.2 billion yen (about 23.68 billion U.S. dollars).
