Tokyo stocks ended 0.71 percent higher on Monday morning. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 95.47 points, from Friday to 13,484.33. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 6.53 points, or 0.59 percent, at 1,112. 58. Gainers were led by consumer finance, real estate and construction firms while decliners included utilities, sea transport and mining issues.
