Nikkei dropped below the 14,000 line on Monday morning, the first time in nearly one month on yen\'s climb against the U.S. dollar and expectation of a series of economic data due to be released this week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 319.94 points from Friday to 13,810.04, after sliding to as low as 13,762.91, the lowest intraday level since July 1.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 30.41 points, at 1,136.65.
All 33 sectors declined, led by consumer finance, securities and tire companies.
