The benchmark index of the Indian equities market closed higher on Monday with the 30-scrip sensitive index of the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, closing at 20,034.48 points, 76.01 points or 0.38 percent up from the previous close of 19,958.47 points. The Sensex had a turnover of 3.86 billion rupees (about 64.27 million U.S. dollars).
