The price for an ounce of gold rose $12 or 0.75 percent to settle at $1,604.60 Monday on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Silver prices added 2 cents to close at $28.85 an ounce. The dollar index rose to 0.62 percent to 82.63 on the International Exchange. Against the dollar, the euro fell to $1.2954 from Friday\'s $1.2956. Against the yen, the dollar was 95.28 yen from 95.21 yen.
