A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Irian Jaya, Indonesia on Monday. The Meteorological Department said in a statement that the earthquake’s epicentre was located 487km southeast of Sorong, Indonesia, and 2,015km southeast of Semporna, Sabah in Malaysia. However, there was no tsunami threat, the statement added.
