A police detective has died of wounds he sustained in a shootout with suspected Muslim Brotherhood elements in Fayyoum Tuesday night, a security source said.

In a gun battle with the elements at Al Agamyeen village, a police major and his car driver, who were on duty, were also wounded.

They were taken to hospital and a manhunt was launched to arrest the attackers.
