Toronto Blue Jays Manager John Farrell will be moving to the Boston Red Sox next season, multiple reports indicated Sunday.
The Boston Globe reported Farrell -- who has spent the last two seasons as the Blue Jays\' skipper -- has been signed to a two-year contract to replace the fired Bobby Valentine.
Farrell, 50, compiled a 154-170 record in his two years with the Blue Jays. Prior to that, he served as the pitching coach for the Red Sox from 2007-10.
He is under contract with Toronto until 2013 and the Red Sox have agreed to send veteran infielder Mike Aviles to Toronto as compensation, WEEI-AM, Boston, said.
The reports indicated Farrell will be introduced at Fenway Park Monday or Tuesday.
Valentine was fired after one season with the Red Sox, who finished in last place in the American League East with a 69-93 record -- their worst mark since 1965.
