The Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) received on Sunday, the flag of the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) as the state of Qatar will host the 12th edition of the tournament in December 2014.
At the closing ceremony of the 11th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) held in Istanbul, Turkey, the FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione handed over the flag to the QSA Secretary General Ali Yousef Al-Jaber.
The QSA delegation included Ali Yousef Al-Jaber, QSA Secretary General, Nasser Yaqoub Laram, QSA Board Member, Petros Tsiallas, Technical Expert, Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sheip, QSA Executive Director, Jassim Mohammad Al-Hail, Wagih Wafi and Hisham Al-Sayed.
Earlier in April, the City of Doha, Qatar has been awarded the organisation of the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), in December 2014.
“We are very pleased to have the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in 2014 in the outstanding Aspire Sport Complex, and its Aquatic Centre, in Doha. I am sure that all swimmers, coaches, officials, and representatives of the participating National Federations will enjoy a great competition and be impressed by the Qatari hospitality”, considered FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione.
Khaleel Al-Jabir said “We are delighted with this decision which fits well with our commitment to FINA\'s global events program and the development of Swimming in Qatar”
