United Arab Emirates club Al Wasl have appointed Bruno Metsu as their new head coach following last week\'s dismissal of Diego Maradona. The 58-year-old Metsu brings with him a wealth of coaching experience having spent over two decades in management with clubs in his native France as well as UAE side Al-Ain, Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad and Qatari club Al-Gharafa, who he left in March. Metsu, who has signed a two-year contract with Al Wasl, has also coached Senegal, Guinea, UAE and Qatar at international level. A statement on Al Wasl\'s website read: \"Al Wasl football company announces the official appointment of Bruno Metsu as head coach of Al Wasl as a replacement for Diego Maradona. More details will be revealed in the press conference that will be held in the coming days to officially unveil Metsu as head coach.\" Maradona\'s position had been in doubt since last month when the club\'s entire board resigned following a trophyless season. The legendary Argentinian was appointed Al Wasl boss in May last year but after only managing eighth place in the Pro-League in his first season in charge, he was dismissed last week. The 51-year-old had been brought in to help boost the club\'s profile, both on and off the pitch, but in addition to a disappointing league campaign they crashed out of the President\'s Cup and Emirates Cup at the quarter-final stage.
