Secretary of Yemeni Prime Ministry Ghemdan Sherif underlined the notable change in the American vision to the Yemeni issue under the presidency of U.S President Donald Trump, saying that the new American administration adopts different approach to the previous policies adopted by the former administration.

He blamed the efforts exerted by U.S former Secretary of State John Kerry failed to achieve stability in Yemen, as they came upon biased approach. He added that the former administration worked to support the Iranian influence in the Yemeni arena. He added that they ignored the threat posed by the Iranians and their loyal militias against both Yemen and its neighboring states.

He praised the current American approach adopted by Trump’s Administration, saying that they deal seriously with the Iranian threats and works to secure their allies, stressing that the American warship “Cool” moved towards the Red Sea to confront any Houthi threats against navigation

Regarding the American operations to combat terrorism, the Yemeni official raised the necessity of coordination with the Yemeni government to ensure more success and to protect the civilian people. He underlined his country’s role as a major partner to the U.S in combating terrorism.

He highlighted the victories that the government achieved against the terrorist groups during the recent years, stressing that they managed to control large swaths of areas controlled by Qaeda. He stressed the Yemeni efforts to eliminate terrorism from Yemen. He praised the efforts exerted by the Arab Coalition and its support for the current fight against terrorism in Yemen.
