Official court documents stated that the couple separated a year ago because of family disputes.

A father has sought the custody of his son because his ex-wife "leaves him with the housemaid all the time to go and enjoy life with friends".
The Emirati man filed a lawsuit at the family court in Al Ain, demanding that he get the custody of his six-year-old boy because his ex-wife doesn't take good care of him.
Official court documents stated that the couple separated a year ago because of family disputes. They have two sons, with the eldest aged 11.
After the divorce, the court granted custody of the elder boy to his father while the mother was given the responsibility of the six-year-old.
The man was ordered to give alimony to his ex-wife and to provide school fees and other expenses to his child. He was also ordered to pay house rent for them.
The father, however, said in his lawsuit that since their separation, he kept trying to call his ex-wife to check on his son, but "always found her phone switched off".
He claimed when he spoke to his ex-wife's housemaid, she told him that she was the one taking care of the child. The maid reportedly said she helped the boy do his homework as the "mother spent most evenings with her friends".
"She is not a responsible mother and can't take good care of my son," the father told the court. "I'm worried for my son's safety and am afraid he won't be brought up properly by the housemaid."
The Emirati father requested that custody of his young son be granted to him, too.
The trial was adjourned to a future date to hear the mother's testimony.
