A US man has been shot to death by FBI agents in a busy commercial area of Owings Mills, Baltimore County, the bureau and Baltimore County police said.
The shooting, which happened in the 9700 block of Reisterstown Road on Friday, involved several FBI agents and at least one agent fired his weapon at the man who died at the scene, press tv reported.
“We’re only confirming an agent involved shooting, but nothing further because it’s an ongoing investigation,” FBI Spokeswoman Amy J. Thoreson wrote in an e-mail.
A Baltimore County Police officer was also at the scene of shooting when the incident occurred but did not use his weapon, according to Baltimore County police Cpl. John Wachter.
Among items being investigated is a gray Infiniti SUV with New York license plates which is the focal point of the investigation.
Tom Myers, a manager of a car dealership near the shooting scene, witnessed the SUV surrounded before the shooting.
"They had him pinned up against the curb and they had him surrounded. He backed his way through traffic," Myers said.
Some people, who were identified as the victim's family, were present at the scene but declined to comment.
No more details about the incident were provided, and the victim was not identified. A shoot review team from headquarters was also at the scene to carry out the investigation.
Shooting incidents are prevalent in the US, with more than 30,000 people being shot and killed in the country annually.
