At least 10 people died and two others were injured in South Korea as Typhoon Nakri battered the country's southern region over the weekend, toppling trees and inundating bridges, Yonhap News Agency reported Monday. The typhoon also flooded 3,300 hectares of farmland and damaged crops at a 430-hectare orchard in South Jeolla Province, the central disaster management agency said.
Some 16 houses were inundated and 11 were damaged, while six fishing boats were swept away by high waves. More than a dozen roads were destroyed and 130 trees fell over before the season's 12th typhoon dissipated off the southwestern coast on Sunday afternoon.
Some 13,000 households in the southern region experienced a blackout before power was restored by Sunday morning.
