US President Donald Trump on Saturday spoke on a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron about the evolving crisis in North Korea, the White House said.
A readout of the call released Saturday stated that Trump and Macron spoke about North Korea, and committed to enforcing the new sanctions passed by the United Nations last week.
"President Trump and President Macron pledged to work together with allies and partners to enforce United Nations sanctions and achieve denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," the transcript said.
"President Trump reiterated to President Macron the United States’ commitment to stop the North Korean nuclear menace," it adds.
The White House statement importantly notes that Trump has not yet ruled out a military solution to North Korea's nuclear threat. On Friday, he tweeted that America's military remains "locked and loaded" in the region.
"President Trump stated that the United States is ready, along with its allies, to apply the full range of diplomatic, economic, and military measures to achieve that goal."
