Taliban gunmen

At least two people were killed and eight others wounded after Taliban gunmen attacked a local bazaar in eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar on Wednesday morning, an official said. "Three armed Taliban insurgent fighters began firing on security checkpoints and civilians shortly after they got off a vehicle in Bati Kot District bazaar. The security forces launched a counter attack to eliminate the attackers," district governor Hajji Lalai told Xinhua.
One police and a civilian were killed and six civilians and two policemen sustained injuries as a result of clash which took place at around 10:30 a.m. local time, the source said, adding "the number of casualties might go up as the battle is still underway".
The latest attack came days before the NATO and U.S. forces ended their combat mission in the Asian country and Afghan national security forces took the full security responsibilities of the country.
