A gunman was killed Wednesday after a shooting in a movie theater near Nashville, Tennessee, police said.

"Active shooter situation @ Hickory 8 Theater -- suspect dead," Metro Nashville Police Department said on Twitter, referring to a theater in Antioch.  

It was not immediately clear if there were any other causalities, but live local television footage showed a huge emergency response effort.
