Storms and flooding in central and southern Italy killied two people and forced 1,700 to evacuate, authorities said. Anna Maria Mancini, 57, trapped in her vehicle in a flooded underpass on the outskirts of Pescara, drowned Sunday, police said. In Rome, also Sunday, high winds toppled trees, one of which fell across a highway, killing a motorcyclist, ANSA reported. Storms and heavy winds battered Pescara where reports of an overflowing reservoir prompted the evacuation of 1,500 people, the news agency said. Another 200 people were evacuated near Matera, where floods washed out roads.
