At least three people died and three others were injured when a shuttle bus carrying a children's football team collided with a minibus in southwest Russia, the regional Emergency Situations Ministry said Sunday.
The shuttle bus, carrying 34 children aged 10 to 12 and five others, collided head-on with the Ukraine-registered minibus at 7:40 a.m. Moscow time (0340 GMT) near the Caucasus city of Mineralnye Vody.
"One person died and one person was injured in the shuttle bus. Two people died in the minibus, two people were injured," the local emergency department told reporters.
No children were injured in the crash, it said, adding that the injured had been hospitalized.
The shuttle bus was taking the children from Dagestan republic to Sochi for a football competition. It was unclear whether the children will continue their trip or go back home.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
