At least 13 people ,including four women were killed and injured after two rival gangs clashed in the troubled Layari area of southern Karachi .Senior police official Faisal Bashir said the clash has also injured 39 people, mainly schoolchildren , according to BBC .“It erupted this morning when two gangs exchanged heavy gunfire. Later, they fired RPGs and lobbed hand grenades at each other,” he added, saying that the death toll is expected to rise. Violence erupted in Layari area after the killing of a gang leader in a joint operation conducted by police and Rangers. A senior official at the Civil Hospital Karachi confirmed the attack and said that they have received 13 dead bodies. The business centers and shops were closed in the area following the violence and people were forced to stay in their homes to remain safe.Karachi, the economic hub of the country has been facing militants’ insurgency, sectarian violence, gang wars and kidnappings for ransom for the last many years.
