Two people were killed when a small plane crashed in Russia's western enclave of Kaliningrad, regional Interior Ministry departments said Wednesday. "The 43-year-old pilot was attempting an emergency landing but the plane hit the ground hard," the local police press service said. The pilot of the S-2 Sintal trainer and his female passenger died in the crash, which happened at 12:50 local time (0850 GMT). The two-seat plane belonged to a sports aviation club in the town of Gvardeisk. The Sintal is designed for pilot training and stunt performances.
