A New York man suspected of fatally stabbing his wife and two daughters to was taken into custody in Texas, police said. Law enforcement personnel arrested Miguel Mejias, who was traveling in a car bearing New York license plates, Monday on a highway between Austin and Houston, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday. Mejias has been in hiding since the bodies of Deisy Garcia, 21; Daniela, 2 and Yoselin, 1, were found in the apartment they shared in Queens during the weekend. Each body had multiple stab wounds. Garcia's 12-year-old cousin found the bodies Sunday night when he entered a bedroom in the family's apartment to play with the girls, the boy's uncle told the Daily News. When the boy opened the door, he saw Garcia on the floor in a pool of blood. "He opened the door and he sees my niece on the floor," said the uncle. Police said they found five knives at the scene. Mejia is originally from Mexico, but it wasn't clear whether he was heading there when he was captured, the newspaper said. Relatives and friends of Garcia told the Daily News Mejia was abusive who once beat Garcia in a church restroom during a baby shower. "They go in the bathroom, and he started to hit the wife," Diana Villa said.
