A retrial began Tuesday for a Chinese man sentenced to death for killing a baby girl after an argument with her mother about a parking space in Beijing. Han Lei, 39, was convicted of intentional homicide in September and given a death sentence, Xinhua, the official government news agency, reported. He appealed on the grounds the homicide was not intentional and he did not realize he was picking up a baby carriage when he hurled it on July 23, killing an infant girl. Han argues he is guilty of involuntary homicide, which carries a sentence of just several years imprisonment. The new trial is being held in the Beijing Municipal Higher People's Court. The court said a decision would not be announced immediately.
