A New Jersey man died after being shot in the head during a carjacking in a parking garage at an upscale Mall at Short Hills, police said. Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said the 30-year-old victim, whose name wasn't reported, was getting into his 2012 silver Range Rover when two assailants shot him and fled in the vehicle. The victim's wife, who was with him as he entered the vehicle, was uninjured, police said. The couple had been shopping at the mall. The confrontation took place at 9:10 p.m. EST Sunday and the victim was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. at Morristown Medical Center, the (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger reported. "We do not know why that car [was targeted], but it obviously was a car with some value," Murray said. Some mall employees said they weren't notified of the shooting and only found out about it after they left work for the night, the newspaper said.
